The 2008 #1 overall pick by the Miami Dolphins is expected to sign Tuesday with the Minnesota Vikings. Contract details are not yet fully known, but it’s a 1 year deal.
Vikings Offensive Line coach Tony Sparano coached Jake Long at Miami so is familiar with him. QB Sam Bradford and QB Shaun Hill were teammates while with the Rams.
The Vikings had lost LT Matt Kalil earlier this season and just placed RT Andre Smith on IR. In relief, LT TJ Clemmings has struggled in pass and run blocking on the left side. T Jeremia Sirles has played at RT in relief and has performed well. It is expected Long will compete at left tackle for the starting job during the bye week.
Vikings expected to sign former No. 1 overall pick, OT, Jake Long today, per source. A Michigan man makes his way to Minnesota.

The Vikings 5-0 have been devastated by injuries this year losing starting QB Teddy Bridgewater, RB Adrian Peterson, RT Phil Loadholt retired, T Matt Kalil, and RT Andre Smith. T/G Michael Harris had an unknown illness and never participated in training camp. Mike Zimmer stated he doubted that Harris would play in 2016.
Note: #77 Jersey is Vikings OL Korey Stringer’s retired number, so Jake Long will have to change his luck and choose a new number.
